Interactive Role-Play Scenarios: ESL Flow

📝 Resource description

It is a free online resource that provides a wide variety of role-play scenarios for EFL learners. The difference between the other resource and this one is that the scenarios are clearly explained an organized by a topic. This allows teachers to find and select the best and most significant situations for their students.

Moreover, the materials are printable scripts and audio recordings. These audios present short dialogues or listening models based on real-life situations, such as asking for information, ordering food, practicing soft skills...

The audio materials are really helpful because students can listen to a clear spoken English before performing the role-play, providing a model of pronunciation, intonation, grammar structure, and vocabulary.

Purpose

Both resources can be combined, they allow students to develop their communication skills by using real scenarios, structured scripts, and interactive listening inputs.

With role-play, students improve creativity and spontaneous dialogue for practicing and developing vocabulary, expressions, and functional language for real life.

🙋🏻‍♀️ How can we use this resource in the classroom?

1. Introduce only key vocabulary and some useful expressions or use the audio listening models first. This will reduce the anxiety your students may have about speaking and expressing themselves in another language.

2. Let them act out the scenario chosen in pairs or small groups. Then can use the script as a guide until they gain more ease and confidence.

3. Conclude with short performances with the whole group class so you can give immediate positive feedback to reinforce the comprehension of your students.
